I'm baaaaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't blogged anything in a year and a half! Time flies when you are having fun. The last year plus has been good.  It has seen its ups and downs, its good and bad, its Optimus Primes and Megatrons.  If I had to rate it, I would settle with a B.  Maybe a B-.  I have done some incredible things since my last post, including: - Traveled to Turkey and Greece. (Post with photos coming soon!) - Continued to support the Sounders in their mediocre glory. - Watched the Seahawks smash it in the Superbowl. - Saw dozens of free, advanced screenings of movies. - Bought a new mattress (trust me, this is HUGE). - Saw my parents celebrate their 50th anniversary. - Met some incredible people. - Rocked out at some amazing concerts. - Won the lotto! Love for Appalachia

"Victuals: An Appalachian Journey, with Recipes" by Ronni Lundy is SUCH an amazing cookbook.  It has taken me a long time to write this review as I immediately ran into problems locating the ingredients.  Almost every recipe called for Sorghum Syrup and that is something that we just don't have up here in Seattle.  The other issue was regarding Ramps...something that I still do not quite know what they are, even after having made several recipes from the book but at least there was substitution of sorts provided. I cannot say if these recipes are accurate representations of Southern Cooking as my entire experience with fried chicken was KFC until I was a pre-teen but I can tell you that these recipes are delicious.  Once you hunt down the Sorghum Syrup (think Amazon), you can accomplish amazing feats. There are great corn recipes, the infamous Skillet Fried Chicken and a Sweet & Savory Banana Pudding that is to die for.  Combine those amazing tidbits wit...

Commies, Prostitution and Stalkers

Start at the beginning, go to the end, then stop. This is how life flows, however my life has flown into a very crazy and slightly frightening turn. Why? you may ask. Well I will tell you why, as I am nice and wouldn't just leave you hanging. I am being stalked by Huey Lewis and the News. I'm not kidding. About two weeks ago my ipod, Kung Pao Chang (so named because I adopted him from China where he was "assembled" by tiny kids over 17 hours in an Apple orphanage, and Kung Pao Chicken is my favorite Chinese food) decided to play the entire Huey Lewis and the News (hereafter referred to as HLN) Greatest Hits Cd over the course of an afternoon and random intervals. Then I went home and flipped on the telly only to have HLN come blaring out at me from some show. Some driving in the car, listening to the radio as I cowered from Kung Pao in fear of HLN, only to have not one but TWO (2) HLN songs play on different stations!!!!!
